The Starty Route

The Starty Route

From idea to a business up and running, in 15 minutes a day. Start with your mindset, land your first sale, then choose autónoma or SL with real data.

Reviewed on 19-10-2026 against official sources: Seguridad Social, AEAT, BOE and PAE/CIRCE. General information, not personal advice. When a figure could not be checked against an official source, we say so. The legal steps are for Spain.

In 30 seconds
  • First of all: Level 0, Mindset. Six daily missions of 5–15 minutes: selling, collecting "no"s, getting paid, publishing imperfect, building habits and watching your numbers.
  • Starting as an autónoma (self-employed) is the cheapest and fastest option. Registering costs nothing in fees. If it's your first time, you pay the flat rate: €80/month for 12 months, which is €88.64 with the MEI [2].
  • An SL (limited company) is cheap to set up but more expensive to run. Through CIRCE with standard articles and capital ≤ €3,100, setting it up costs €60 for the notary and €40 for the registry, plus VAT, and the BORME is free [5][6]. The minimum capital is €1 [7]. What makes it expensive is the company director's self-employed contribution (final minimum base of €1,424.40 in 2026, about €448.69/month) [3], full accounting, annual accounts and an advisor that usually costs twice as much.
  • Taxes: an autónoma pays progressive IRPF (income tax), with state rates from 9.5% to 24.5% plus the regional part [9]. An SL pays Corporate Tax: in 2026, 19% on the first €50,000 and 21% on the rest for a micro-company, or 15% for the first two years with profit for a newly created company [10][11].
  • Liability: an autónoma is liable with everything she owns [12]. In an SL, partners are only liable up to what they contributed, with nuances (Level 4) [7][13].
  • Rule of thumb: start as an autónoma while you validate that there are clients. Consider an SL when profit is high and stable and you can leave money inside the company, when there are partners or investors, or when the business carries high risk. There is no official threshold: it's a personal calculation (Level 6).

Mindset

Before choosing autónoma or SL

Choosing the legal form is easy. The hard part is selling, getting paid and not giving up. Every day you do one 5–15 minute mission: each mission gives XP and, when you finish the series, a badge. The frameworks quoted are well known and linked in the sources. No made-up statistics.

Daily missions

  • Mission 0.150 XP

    Lose the fear of selling

Write in one sentence what problem you solve and for whom. Then tell 1 person today (message, call or in person) and ask about their problem, not about your idea. Use questions about the past ("when was the last time you…?, how did you solve it?") instead of "would you buy it?" (The Mom Test framework, Rob Fitzpatrick [M1]).

    First conversation · 5 days in a row0/5 streak
  • Mission 0.220 XP per "no"

    Collect 10 "no"s

Every day, make 1–2 requests that will probably be turned down: a price, a meeting, a review, a discount from a supplier. Log every "no" on your scoreboard. The goal is the number of attempts, not the "yes"es (the idea behind Jason Comely's Rejection Therapy and Jia Jiang's "100 days of rejection" project [M2]).

  • Mission 0.380 XP

Set a price and get paid

Work out your minimum price: what you need to earn per month (including your autónoma contribution, see Level 2) divided by the hours or units you can really sell. Write your price on your website or proposal with no "from" and no apologies, and send it to 1 potential client today. Send the invoice the same day you deliver.

  • Mission 0.460 XP

    Publish imperfect

Pick one thing at 80% (landing page, post, offer, prototype) and publish it today with a 15-minute limit. Ask 1 person what they would change. This is the build, measure, learn loop from Lean Startup (Eric Ries) [M3]. Reid Hoffman puts it like this: if you're not embarrassed by the first version, you launched too late [M4].

  • Mission 0.530 XP a day

    Consistency and habits

Anchor your mission to something you already do ("after my coffee, I do my Starty mission"). This is habit stacking from Atomic Habits, by James Clear [M5]. Write it as an implementation intention ("if it's 9:00 and I'm at my desk, then I write to 1 client"), a technique studied by Peter Gollwitzer [M6]. Mark the day on your calendar and never break the chain two days in a row.

  • Mission 0.640 XP a week

    Money mindset

Set a concrete monthly income goal (e.g. "€1,500 net in March"). Every Friday, in 10 minutes, write down 4 numbers: income, expenses, contribution and taxes set aside, and number of sales conversations. Move a percentage of every payment into a separate account for VAT and IRPF, so the quarterly returns don't catch you out (Level 3).

Final boss: your first paying client

Land 1 client who pays, however little. Then you're ready: go to Level 1 and choose autónoma or SL with real data.

Starty tip: mission 0.3 is the scariest and the one that moves you forward fastest. Give it a fixed day.
